About the Job

An exciting opportunity to join our QA and Data teams as a Data Tester. We are looking for a highly analytical person to support our data teams and help bring our insights and analytics features to customers.

You’ll be responsible for the QA in the data teams from start to finish – creating tests and testing strategies at the start to executing the tests and helping to automate pipelines at the end. A strong eye for detail and numbers is needed as you will be comparing data from difference sources such as Azure Analytics and our own databases, knowledge of complex SQL queries will be essential for this.

The role and your responsibilities

• Work with BI developers, data engineers, and internal stakeholders ranging from customer success to product managers.
• Define testing strategies for data applications and projects across the business
• Work closely with the Data product manager, data engineers, and BI developers to ensure testing cycles are executed, and results are documented and actioned.
• Monitor existing pipelines and infrastructure to identify errors with a view to building prevention into test strategies.
• Write and execute manual and automated tests covering front-end browser testing to data reconciliation work.
• Test in different environments including web and mobile
• Write bug reports
• Assess code
• Review documentation
• Work towards departmental and project deadlines
• Provide quality assurance
• Provide objective feedback to software development project teams
• Troubleshoot and problem solve
• Design tests to mitigate risk
• Present findings to software development and business user teams
• Work on multiple projects at one time
• Communicate findings to technical and non-technical colleagues.

Required experience

• 3+ years experience in QA, preferably with data.
• Strong knowledge of software methodologies and how these can be applied to data.
• SQL – ability to write and understand complex queries
• Good knowledge of PowerBI
• Experience using Azure analytics
• Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and hit the ground running, and take initiative to identify and solve problems
• Python knowledge is a plus
• Automation Experience is a plus
