Our Purpose: A Better Life for Everyone
Nourish is not simply a technology company; we are a digital partner for the social and health care sector rooted in human connections, with the person being supported at its core. We offer a range of co-produced software solutions tailored to the unique challenges of care, while still being flexible enough to meet the specific needs of each individual service we work with.
We are at an exciting stage of growth. While we are the market leader, we remain ambitious and dedicated to our mission. We continue to revolutionise the sector by investing in our platform and our incredible employees who make this impact possible.
Our Ecosystem
At Nourish, you will contribute to a sophisticated ecosystem that includes:
• Technology that impacts a million people every day: Our core products are used by over 425,000 carers to support 417,000+ individuals
• The Nourish Partnership Programme (NPP): A sector-leading programme that manages strategic integrations with third-party systems to ensure seamless data syncing and interoperability across the care journey.
Our Culture & Values
We look for people who align with the way we work. If you join us, you are joining a culture defined by:
• Making a Difference: We remember who we serve. We are passionate about making a meaningful, positive impact on the lives of carers and those we support
• Agility: We continuously refine and adapt. There is no room for complacency here; we are driven to constantly review and improve our products and processes.
• Collective Effort: We help each other out because we know that when one person wins, we all win. It’s "all hands-on deck" - everyone is in it together.
• Every Person Counts: We treat everyone as a very significant part of our community. We welcome people being their true and authentic selves and value the diverse perspectives they bring.
• Openness to Learning: We believe no question is a silly question and all insights are valuable. Mistakes are part of the improvement process; we dust ourselves off and begin again.
The Team & Role
As a Principal Product Designer at Nourish, you’ll advocate for our end users through high-impact design thinking, helping shape not just individual experiences but the broader product ecosystem. Working closely with Product, Engineering, UXR, and design peers, you’ll influence the direction of key initiatives, raise the quality bar across teams, and ensure our products are intuitive, accessible, and scalable. You’ll bring deep product design expertise, balanced with systems thinking, to create experiences that are not only usable and functional, but cohesive across the platform.
The Product Design team at Nourish values a strong blend of design thinking, research insight, information architecture, technical fluency, and product judgement. As a Principal, you’ll help connect these strengths across the team, bringing clarity to complex problems, shaping shared approaches, and ensuring the design system and product experiences evolve in a consistent, thoughtful way.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll join the Product Design team as a senior individual contributor who takes ownership of:
• Strategic Design Leadership: You’ll influence the design direction of major initiatives across multiple product areas, helping define the right problems to solve and the right level of solution for each. You’ll act as a trusted design partner to Product and Engineering, bringing clarity, challenge, and momentum to complex work.
• Cross-Product User Experience: You’ll shape experiences that work consistently across products and touchpoints, ensuring that user journeys are coherent, intuitive, and scalable. You’ll identify patterns, inconsistencies, and opportunities to improve the overall experience, not just individual screens or flows.
• User Research: You’ll partner closely with UXR to ensure research informs key decisions, and you may lead or support research activities where needed. You’ll help translate insights into practical design direction and use them to guide product strategy and prioritisation.
• Design and Prototyping: You’ll create wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and other design artefacts to communicate and validate concepts. You’ll work through discovery, definition, and iteration with Product and Engineering, ensuring solutions are feasible, valuable, and high quality.
• User Testing and Validation: You’ll help plan and interpret usability testing and other validation activities, using findings to refine designs and improve confidence in the direction. You’ll communicate insights clearly to both technical and commercial stakeholders.
• Collaboration and Communication: You’ll work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, UXR, and other designers to align on user needs, business goals, and product strategy. You’ll facilitate design discussions and workshops that build shared understanding and drive stronger decisions across squads.
• Design System Expertise: You’ll play a key role in shaping and evolving the design system, ensuring consistency, quality, and scalability across products. You’ll help establish patterns and principles that support both current needs and future growth, while championing accessibility and best practice.
• Documentation and Design Quality: You’ll document key decisions, principles, patterns, and design specifications to support continuity and clarity. You’ll help raise the standard of design quality across the team through thoughtful critique, guidance, and clear articulation of rationale.
Requirements
• Experience:
o Significant experience in UX/Product Design, with evidence of operating at a Principal level or in a similar senior IC role. You’ll be confident working in collaborative, cross-functional environments, ideally in a SaaS or B2B context.
• Technical/Functional Alignment:
o Sub Disciplines: Experience spanning multiple areas such as interaction design, information architecture, research, visual design, or service design is highly desirable.
o Design Tool Fluency: Proficiency in Figma is essential; experience with additional tools is a bonus.
o Design Principles: A strong foundation in user-centred design principles, accessibility standards including WCAG, and inclusive design. Experience designing for both web and mobile applications, with a focus on cohesive user journeys.
o Research Methodologies: Strong understanding of user research methods (interviews, surveys, usability testing), with the ability to translate findings into practical design decisions.
o Product & Delivery Mindset: Comfortable working in agile environments, with the ability to balance discovery, iteration, and delivery while influencing the right level of solution for the problem.
o Systems Thinking: Ability to think beyond individual features and contribute to broader product patterns, design system evolution, and scalable ways of working.
• Sector Interest: A genuine interest in the UK social care sector and how technology can improve interoperability.
• Mindset: A pragmatic, collaborative, and warm approach to problem-solving.
Nourish Benefits
